Tea-bags Rooibos

As low as €6.50

Mineral-rich needle-like leaves of the Red forest plant (Rooibos) from South Africa. Oxidation gives the leaves their characteristic red colour. Rooibos contains no theine and only few tannins, which provides it a soft and sweet taste and makes it ideal for children and breastfeeding mothers. Rooibos contains antioxidants such as Vitamin C in particular.

Our tea bags are made of plant material (PLA). For the time being, they are only biodegradable in an industrial composting installation. You can throw the tea itself in the organic waste bin, but the bag itself still has to go with the residual waste.

TEA OR INFUSION?

Rooibos is not a tea, as these are not leaves of the camellia Sinensis plant. The rooibos plant grows exclusively in the Western Cape in South Africa. After harvesting (once every four years!), the leaves are placed in the sun, where they oxidise in the air, dry and acquire their red colour. The leaves are then crushed, and tiny needles remain. Rooibos has a soft and honey-like character and contains no theine and only few tannins, which make Rooibos infusions suitable for children and to enjoy during pregnancy. Rooibos does contain vitamin C and other oxidants.

The full flavour and soft characteristics of rooibos make it an excellent basis for blends. Blanche Dael has included the tastiest melanges in its range.
